A Parting Chance

Saturday 22nd September

Had a great night with the crews of Chance and No Problem before returning to Autumn Myst for a nightcap. At one stage I thought we would get thrown out of the Gardeners Arms as June and Doug were making so much noise and giggling at every thing.
Today was a chance for a lie in as we were not planning on travelling. So we had a leisurely breakfast and invited the boys off Nb Chance in for a coffee and last taste of June’s home made lemon cake before they headed off towards Hanbury Wharf.
We said our goodbyes and they headed out of the basin and down the cut towards the end of the Barge Canal and the lock which links it with the river Salwarpe.

* Droitwich Basin

* Chance leaves Droitwich
We felt really sad as they left because we had had a great time with them over the last few days. Hopefully we will catch up with them in the not too distant future.

We headed off to the supermarkets to replenish our provisions and then after lunch explored the town of Droitwich with it old and leaning buildings and the Lido Park.
In the old days we used to go to dinner dances at the magnificent half timbered Raven Hotel but there appeared to be new apartments built in its grounds although I believe it is still a hotel being part of the Chateau Impney group.
The town was quite busy with it being Saturday but June still found time to buy some new shoes.
Phoenix proved a hit with local residents who all seemed to want to make a fuss of her, so the shopping took much longer than expected.
We returned to the boat and enjoyed the sun as the basin is a little sun trap and tried to chill out but found so many jobs to do that after dinner we both flopped down in the chairs.
