Short Trip to Oxford - Tuesday 8th July

A late start for us this morning as we only had the short trip to the Osney Bridge Moorings in Oxford and luckily there were two vacant places just passed the bridge. On our way down we were buzzed by the University rowing groups who were out practicing starts and other racing manoeuvres . There are some lovely views over Port Meadow including these horses who were down on the river bank for a drink. At the end of the meadow is Medley Footbridge where the river appears to go into the marina until you get close and see that it actually goes under the foot bridge.1 Port Meadow

Once we were moored up it was a quick trip on the No. 400 bus into the main shopping area to do a major shop at M & S and Sainsbury’s. Fully laden we caught the bus back to the boat and after lunch it was back in for some general shopping and purchase the remainder of our grocery shopping. Oxford was just too busy for Jim  so we headed home. Just got back on the boat for afternoon tea when the rain started and it drizzled most of the evening but we enjoyed a game of cards with C & G.

Osney Bridge is very low and care needs to exercised when negotiating if you have anything left on the roof.
